Fatal Motorcycle Crash on Route 80 in North Branford

A pickup truck and a Harley-Davidson with two passengers collided this morning, killing the operator of the motorcycle.

The operator of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle was killed and its passenger seriously injured when it collided with a Ford pickup truck at the intersection of White Wood Lane and Foxon Road (Route 80) just after 11 Sunday morning.

According to police, the Harley-Davidson motorcycle ended up underneath the pickup truck and bystanders initiated CPR on one victim.

The two people riding the motorcycle were critically injured and were treated by fire department paramedics and transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital Trauma Center.

A NBPD press release stated that the "motorcycle operator's injuries were ultimately fatal. The motorcycle operator and passenger are not being identified at this time pending the notification of their next of kin."

The NBPD said that the truck was owned and operated by Archie Bailey of Guilford. He was not injured.

and EMS units, along with the responded to the scene. According to Deputy Chief Robert Colangelo, mutual aid EMS assistance was provided by American Medical Response of New Haven.

The motor vehicle accident investigation is being conducted by Officer David Sheehan under the supervision of Sgt. Mark Flanagan. Any witnesses are encouraged to contact the North Branford Police Department at 203-484-2703.
