Harlem Superstars Fundraiser Makes $2,000+ for NBEF

The North Branford Education Foundation hosted a basketball game, pitting the Harlem Superstars against the North Branford Dream Team.

On Jan. 19, the North Branford Education Foundation (NBEF) hosted a fundraiser that drew more than 500 spectators and raised more than $2,000. The Harlem Superstars visited the North Branford High School gym, taking on the North Branford Dream Team, made up of teachers and other public figures in town, including Superintendent Scott Schoonmaker.

The NBEF is an independent organization whose mission is "to enhance educational opportunities available to the North Branford community by funding programs that are beyond the conventional resources of a public school system," according to Frank Mentone, president of NBEF. "We give grants to teachers who have ideas to run programs that are not funded by the system."
