3 Questions for North Branford's HazWaste Committee: September

The HazWaste/Recycling Committee runs down important dates for recycling electronics, leaves and more.

What's new with the North Branford Hazardous Waste and Recycling Committee? 
NBHWRC: We are pleased to announce “Triple Header” recycling events on October 12. Collections at North Branford Public Works on Route 22 will include Electronic Waste by Metech Recycling. This is a free public service for town residents to discard electronic waste properly.·    Cell Phones, Rechargeable Batteries, and Empty Propane and Helium Tanks as our first quarterly recycling event under our new schedule.  There is a fee for collection of Empty Propane and Helium Tanks. Please remember that we will not accept paper of any type. “North Branford Recycles Day” materials including: tires for a modest fee ($5 small, $10 large), wet cell (vehicle) batteries and waste oil. Also happening on October 12, ‘North Branford’s Hometown Day’ at HazWaste Central, located right behind the Regional Water Authority’s headquarters, 90 Sargent Drive, New Haven. What's something residents should know?
NBHWRC: North Branford residents can bring their leaves to the leaf drop off center located at the Public Works Garage on Route 22 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the following Saturdays this Fall: October 19 and 26, November 2, 9, 16 and 23. Please place leaves in biodegradable leaf bags (no tape please) or empty them loose onto the ground. Curbside leaf pickup takes place week of Nov. 25 to Nov. 29. Please also use biodegradable paper bags without any tape. For more information, please call the recycling hotline at 203-484-4091.
