3 Questions for Rec Director Pam Gery: May 2013

North Branford Rec Director Pam Gery is already gearing up for the 2013 Potato Festival and summer baseball bus trips!

North Branford Patch: What's new at the North Branford Park and Rec Department?
Pam Gery: Our department has just established a Potato Festival Volunteer Scholarship award! We are very excited that the Festival has done this well over the years to have this opportunity to give back to our youth each year. This year we will recognize four outstanding students with a 3.0 or higher that have contributed to the Potato & Corn Festival in more ways than one!

North Branford Patch: What is something residents should know?
Pam Gery: The Potato & Corn Festival is now four days! Thursday, Aug. 1 to  Sunday, Aug. 4. Northeast Midways, LLC, is our new Amusement Company this year! They will come with additional thrill rides for the teens/adults this year and will also donate $2,000 back to our Fireworks show!

We have organized a Battle of the Bands on July 12 at Totoket Valley Park.  The winner of this event will open up at the Festival on Thursday, Aug. 1. Volunteers are needed over the long weekend. Please sign up and join the many people in town that help us make our Festival the BEST THAT IT CAN BE!

North Branford Patch: Are you a baseball fan?
Pam Gery: I am not a big baseball fan, but our department has sponsored three baseball games for your enjoyment over the summer months. Don't wait....sign up now as tickets will go fast! All are at 1 p.m. at Yankee Stadium and include round-trip motorcoach transportation.
