Twas NB Graduation

Twas the day before graduation and all through the halls,

The seniors were cheering and bouncing off walls.

The caps and gowns were stuffed into lockers with no care,

Knowing mom could work magic with her loving flair.

But just before day’s end, they all stopped one last time,

To remember the last four years and the tough road they climbed.

For years they had done homework, with no end in sight,

But this year they graduate. Oh what a delight!

No more staring at problems on their notebook page,

The only thing that mattered was crossing that stage.

The big day had arrived, they had to get ready!

Hoping to get through the day without overly stressing!

It was graduation day, and time seemed to have stopped.

After four long years they had made it to the top.

Each mortar was perfect, each gown was just right,

Their faces glowed, their smiles were bright.

There were programs with names of every graduate there,

The football stadium was packed, with no room to spare.

They looked to the stage, knowing the time had come,

That their names would be read, called out one by one.

They all knew this is how their future begins,

As names were called out, theirs and that of their friends.

Each student left their place, with their heads held high,

And as they accepted their diplomas, all the moms began to cry.

They smiled broadly and turned, and looked back to their friends,

Standing there proudly as this chapter ends.

They looked at the crowd and let out a big sigh,

As they remembered the years that had just passed them by.

They spoke not a word, but returned to their chairs.

And as they did, Todd Stoeffler rose with much fanfare.

The 2012 class was announced with cheering and claps,

The graduates yelled and threw up their caps.

Their high school days were over, they just couldn't stay.

They had to prepare for their college days.

They sprang to their feet, to the crowd gave a cheer,

They all knew life would be different, but they’d face it without fear.

We heard them exclaim, on this graduation night,

Good-bye NB high, thanks to you my future looks bright!

Congratulations to the NBHS Class of 2012!
