Updated: Oct. 30, 2012, 2 p.m.

Now that Hurricane Sandy has moved through town, about half of North Branford and Northford are without power. Luckily, most of the main roads – and the businesses along them – have been restored, offering residents places to eat, shop and recharge.

So, what have you seen that's open? Are you looking for batteries? Water? Ice? Gas? Ask your neighbors where they've seen those items in the comments below.

Plus, here's North Branford's pre-Sandy and post-Sandy information and press releases as well as a gallery of photos from around town. Feel free to add yours, too.

Original Story: Oct. 29, 2012, 5:30 a.m.

As we hunker down to ride out Hurricane Sandy, we want to make sure that North Branford stays connected. For live updates during the storm, be sure to download our App for your smartphone or tablet, like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter.

As you send us messages through social media, email (jenn.mcculloch@patch.com) and text message (203-517-7541), we’ll make sure the information is added to this story in the comments and on the map found above.

If you notice wires down or a tree across the road, please alert authorities and then let us know so we can spread the word quickly. You can comment right on this story and add photos and video (click Add photos & video above or below the photo gallery) to make sure readers know what’s going on in your neighborhood.

The effects of Irene are hard for us to forget and, at times, water, batteries and other necessities were scarce about town. Use the comments to share information about where to find these items and more.

North Branford Patch is all about connecting neighbors and helping neighbors so we hope you’ll find this information hub helpful as we brave the storm together. Stay safe North Branford!

Some people on Facebook are asking where the power's coming back. If yours comes back on, if you could share, that would be great!

No power yet around Clear Lake (at least for those on the CL&P line) but there is a steady generator hum throughout the neighborhood.

Hi Tom. Here's a note from Bonnie: "I did make contact with CL&P today and their representative is working with our Public Works Department to have these roads cleared. I will make sure to keep everyone posted."
