Lighting Up the Holiday Season
The New Haven Green's holiday tree, which came from Northford, is being lit tonight, while North Branford's tree lighting is tomorrow.
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas everywhere you go…
Every night, more and more houses are decked out and lit up in holiday decorations, but the next two days add to the big lights! Area annual tree lightings will be held tonight, Dec. 1 and tomorrow, Dec. 2, to help get you in the holiday spirit.
These tree lightings follow Branford’s, which was held on Nov. 26. Prior to the tree lighting on the Branford Green was a festive parade that included Santa riding into town on a fire truck and a performance by Branford High School Choir.

New Haven Green Tree Lighting
The is tonight, Dec. 1, with festivities from 4 to 8 p.m. on the New Haven Green. The giant tree that is decked out with more than 30,000 lights was once a familiar sight on the back roads of .

On Nov. 1, the New Haven Department of Recreation and Trees with a crane, a flatbed and a police escort after almost a week of preparing the Norway spruce for the journey.
The McDermott family–Steve and Marie, Jenn and Mike–will be on hand to light the tree with help from some special friends, including four-year-old Marley Krebs of Branford.
North Branford Tree Lighting
Still looking for more holiday cheer? is Friday, Dec. 2 at 6 p.m. at on Route 80.
The event kicks off with a performance by the North Branford High School Choir. There will also be cookies and hot chocolate and a visit from Santa. Rich Castiglione will again donate his photography skills for photos with Santa, too.
Donations of canned food will also be accepted for the . The event is sponsored by the , the and NBFD Co. 1.
