NB Patch's Top Dog Competition Closes Today

Today is your last chance to cast your vote for North Branford Patch's 'Top Dog.' Vote by commenting on the story and using the number above the upper right corner of the photo of the dog you'd like to vote for.

Votes will be counted until 7 p.m. today, July 15, 2012 and the winner will be announced tomorrow.

Just three days into North Branford Patch's Top Dog contest and we've already got 11 doggies in the running (after you take out my adorable Max and count McGruff just one time–even though you're only supposed to upload one photo, I just couldn't take any of the costumed McGruff off!).

The comments are coming in fast and steady as folks let us know who should be Top Dog in town. As of 8:45 a.m., 's Riley and Owen are in the lead with nine votes followed by Stella, uploaded by . 's little English bulldog Sadie Grace rounds out the top three so far with five votes.

But it's still early on in this contest. New entries are being posted every day with ,  and  adding their little cuties to the running. Have you shared a photo of your dog yet? All you have to do is click 'Upload Photos and Videos' above or below the photo gallery.

And, of course, don't forget to cast your vote by commenting! You can also spread the word that your pet is up for Top Dog by clicking the buttons along the top of the photo gallery including Facebook recommend, Tweet and email.

Everyone knows their dog is the best dog.

Now, North Branford Patch is giving you the chance to prove it.

This month, North Branford Patch is hosting its Top Dog contest. Hopefully, you've had your , but if you haven't, you could still head to the in to take care of it (it's required by law) — and then we want you to enter our contest.

Here’s how it works:

Beginning today, July 2, upload your favorite photo of your dog to this article (it’s super easy — just make sure you are a ). In the caption, tell us your dog’s name and what makes him or her so special. One photo per owner.

Between July 2 and July 15, our users will vote in the comments on which dog is North Branford's Top Dog. So make sure you hit that social media campaign trail early, getting your friends on Facebook and Twitter to vote for your dog!

On July 16, we will announce the winner of North Branford Patch's Top Dog contest. And we'll also have a prize for the Top Dog, too!

To vote: Look for the number above the top right corner of the photo and refer to that in the comments.
