Pot Farm Coming To New Haven Area? Proposal Gets High Praise By West Haven Board

The proposed farm, which would grow medical marijuana, still needs state approval.

Earlier this week, the West Haven Planning and Zoning Commission approved a plan to put a 26,000 square foot farm that would grow medical marijuana at 400 Frontage Road.

The Register Citizen reports that the proposal, which was put forth by Fairfield's Advanced Grow Labs LLC, still needs approval from the state. The town commissioners approved the plan enthusiastically, both because of the 15 jobs it will create and the message it sends.

“So many people said, ‘You know that there’s going to be a negative stigma on West Haven if we’re known for selling (marijuana),’” West Haven Planning and Zoning Commission Vice Chairman Steven R. Mullins said, according to the newspaper. “But this not substance abuse at all. It’s not a promotion of substance abuse... If anything, it will be positive for West Haven and show us looking forward.”
