What Would You Improve in North Branford in 2013?

If you could make a New Year's resolution for North Branford, what would it be?

More than 45 percent of Americans make a resolution every year, according to statisticbrain.com. Some people vow to live a healthier lifestyle, others promise to spend more time with family, and many say they will try to save money.

As millions of Americans make resolutions to improve their lives, what could we do right here in North Branford to make it an even better place to live?

North Branford is already in the midst of a transformation with the new Swajchuk property set to open this spring and the construction on Route 80 is moving along. In early 2013, the Senior Center and Community Center will move to the Stanley T. Williams building.

What is on your North Branford wish list? What is one thing you would improve in 2013?

Tell us in the comment section below or blog about why you love living here!

Here'a comment from Sherry Thaller from Facebook (facebook.com/NorthBranfordPatch): "Not to change the TOWN of N. Branford into a city."

My resolution is to make more residents aware that they can send budgets back to the town for cuts and that is the only way we can reduce our property taxes. The turnouts on budget referendums are horribly poor.

There should be two lanes all the way from Big Y to the "NEW" 139. I have lived in this town all of my life and am actually afraid of driving home on that stretch of road every night. I was pushed into the oncoming traffic the other night! The truck in front of me stopped and waved for me to pull in front of him because the person next to me was actually aiming her car into mine. The funny thing is she was never in front of me. I didn't even know she was there until my son started yelling that she was going to hit me. THIS SHOULD BE THE FIRST THING FIXED IN THE NEW YEAR ASAP...

I think the idea of sidewalks is wonderful! I also think that something should be done to curb or slow the traffic down on rt.150. The 18-wheelers, garbage trucks, ULine and cintas trucks drive ridiculously fast!

Fran What ever happened to the plans for a center green and gathering place which was to be at the Totoket Valley and Swajchuk property? We are the only town without a center. Some years back there were plans for a bandstand, gazebo, etc. It seems as they have gone by the wayside. I know we needed athletic fields, but those do not serve the entire population....Let's do some thinking about the rest of the residents and taxpayers.
