What's On Tonight?

When it's 101 degrees out, you crank up the A/C and watch Animal Planet. Too bad it's not Shark Week.

Friday July 22

Today, 7 a.m., NBC
Right up front I am going to admit that this is very catty of me. And now I am going to say it: Facebook+Journalists had Ann Curry run the page today. Ann Curry. News reader Ann Curry. So she posts this: "Once I was told I couldn't be a reporter because women had no news judgement. What did you have to overcome? - Ann Curry." See the problem?

Friday Night Beauty, 10 p.m., QVC
I love watching the makeup shows on the shopping channels. I love the “inventors.” They are hilarious. I also love who they slap the models silly while applying and re-applying and then re-re-applying the product. There was one the other night for an under eye concealer. I am surprised this model did not look like Jake LaMotta by the
time the cosmetics maker had finished poking her in the eyes over and over. Goodfun.

I Shouldn’t Be Alive, 10 p.m., Animal Planet
“Two climbers on a first date are caught in an electrical storm.” First date? Really? That is not a first date. In my book it is definitely a last date, though.

Sunday July 24

Same Name, 9 p.m., CBS
A new show in which celebrities trade places with regular folks who happen to have their name. First up? Unbelievably enough, there is more than one David Hasselhoff out there.

The Proposal, 8 p.m., FX
Crank the AC, pop some extra movie butter popcorn, and turn this on. Fabulous.

Bar Rescue, 10 p.m., SpikeTV
It’s like what Gordon Ramsey does for restaurants, except it’s bars. Which meansinstead of curdled milk and burned fish, it smells like pee and vomit.
