With the Drama Club’s production of Guys and Dolls quickly approaching, all hands are on deck as the cast and crew prepare for opening night, which is Friday, April 1.
Heading into North Branford Auditorium, Director Cindy Genzano sat in the theatre taking notes as her actors and actresses ran through the scenes. That wasn’t the only action, though, as there was a flurry of activity backstage.
In the dressing room, senior Alyssa Arre along with freshmen Brittany Eairheart and Maria Buonasora were busy prepping the costumes and waiting to assist in costume changes in between scenes. The trio is also responsible for makeup, organizing the dressing room and dealing with any problems that come up along the way.
Buonasora joined Drama Club because her older sister was already involved, while this is Arre’s third year helping out after her best friends convinced her to join.
While the students are certainly hard at work, there are plenty of parents who are involved as well. ‘Drama Mama’ Sherry DelGaudio was busy making last-minute alterations to a costume and Jackie Folz was also on hand making sure things were running smoothly.
Across the stage, the crew was waiting in the wings, ready to change the scenery in between sets. Senior Tori Hultgren has been a member of the drama club since her freshman year and is now the stage manager. Senior Molly Deegan is the assistant stage manager and also participated in the Drama Club as a sophomore. Senior Nick Balzano is in his second year of involvement and he heads up the technical crew.
