On Tonight: Mike & Molly, Dancing with the Stars and Nurse Jackie

Time for Monday night TV.

Here’s what I like about this show: Yes, it is about two obese people who found each other and fell in love. Except it isn’t really. It is about two lonely people who found each other and fell in love. Other than the occasional revisit to the Overeaters Anonymous meetings where they met and Carl’s zingers to Mike, their weight has nothing to do with the show or with its appeal. It reminds me a lot of Murphy Brown, which started out as a show about a woman fresh out of rehab and ended up being a show about a group of friends. Terrific stuff.

Dancing with the Stars, 8 p.m., ABC

The only reality show decision-maker totally off the mark these days is Trump, who keeps firing the wrong people. When the decision is left to America, the right one seems to be going every week. Last week the nation put Sugar Ray out of his clear misery. And not to make something out of nothing, but on Sunday, Trump fired the lead singer of Sugar Ray and on Tuesday, Sugar Ray went home …

Nurse Jackie, 10 p.m., Showtime

So the reintroduction of the epileptic guy that Jackie stole the drugs from and the new introduction of Kevin’s sister, Tooney, were both great twists last week. And Kevin thinks Eddie and Tooney should meet. Oh dear. Continued props to Anna Deveare Smith, she is magnificent.
