Driver Ejected in Accident That Closes Portion of Route 80

Route 80 is shut down between the North Branford-East Haven town line and the CT Sportsplex.

About two hours after the accident that sent a driver to the hospital and took out power in parts of North Branford, Route 80 was still closed with Fire Chief William Seward saying it would still be some time before the road reopened.

Route 80 is closed from the North Branford - East Haven town line to the Connecticut Sportsplex after a car struck a telephone pole. The driver was ejected from the car.

North Branford Fire Chief William Seward reported that speed appears to be a contributing factor in the accident. The driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was transported by North Branford Fire Department ambulance to Yale-New Haven Hospital.

The crash also took out power in various areas of North Branford, including from Big Y to Notch Hill Road.
