Columbus Day: What's Open and What's Closed in North Branford and Northford

Before heading into town, check our list of local places.

For hundreds of years, people have celebrated Christopher Columbus’ voyage to the New World. While historians debate the significance of the voyage, the government has recognized the event as a federal holiday for more than 70 years. Here’s what’s open and what’s closed on Columbus Day this Oct. 10. 

The following are CLOSED today:

  • Public schools
  • Both the Atwater and Smith libraries are closed today
  • Post offices
  • State offices (including the Department of Motor Vehicles)
  • Banks (double check with your branch)

The following are OPEN today:
