Best Place for St. Patrick's Day in East Haven?

The Irish American Community Center is well in the lead this morning, but there's still time to vote for your favorite East Haven spot to celebrate St. Patrick's Day — our poll closes Friday morning at 9 a.m.

Saturday marks St. Patrick’s Day 2012. And many of us will celebrate by heading to parades, catching up with friends, enjoying Irish music and dancing and celebrating with our neighbors through church-organized and other community events.

Those of us planning to head out likely have our “go-to” spots, so for this week’s East Haven Patch Readers’ Choice contest we’re asking for your recommendations:

What’s your favorite place to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day?

What makes it special? Why do you enjoy it?

Why They're The Best

As with each Readers’ Choice contest, Patch will factor in a combination of poll votes, comments and most importantly, ratings and reviews in the Patch Places directory, in determining winners.

Below you’ll find a starter list that we’re asking you to help us to flesh out, as well as a poll whose choices we’ll update as we get feedback from you.

Please tell us in the comment thread which places are missing from the list and why they're the best — we'll add them to the poll and create a new Patch Places listing for them.

Everyone: I stopped into Smitty's earlier this afternoon to say hello and tell them that they were in the lead as of earlier today. And now I check in and see IACC has surged ahead once again — this one could go down to the wire!

it is not a competition we all enjoy a celebration so stop in at SMITTY'S and then to come to the IACC for the BEST pint of GUINNESS in connecticut!

No doubt it has to be Smitty's. Corned beef and cabbage for free, not to mention the comradrie of the patrons and the owners. It has been a Town landmark for years.
