Towne Barber Shop Opens Its Doors

Tracey Fair is excited to expand her barbershop business to North Branford.

While Towne Barber Shop may be new to North Branford, its owner, Tracey Fair, is not new to the business. Fair has operated the Village Barber Shop in Guilford for the past 20 years.

“In 20 years I have seen my diapered clients getting their driving license, seen clients heading to the prom, their high school graduation, off to college, graduating college, getting engaged, starting families for themselves, getting divorced, pictures of the first born grandchild and losing loved ones over the years,” said Fair. “Yet my very favorite is when one of my clients sits in my chair and tells me he is celebrating his 60th wedding anniversary!”

Fair is now hoping to see North Branford clients through those same milestones with her new shop at 2400 Foxon Road – in the Country Paint & Hardware plaza.

Inside you will find the two barber stations equipped with clippers and scissors, as well as the straight razor and cologne. With ample waiting room equipped with two TVs and magazines, Fair and her head barber, Jeff Bess are excited about the “old fashioned barber shop, in which we cut men's hair, trim eyebrows, get those unwanted ear hairs and shave the back of the neck, leave with a splash of cologne after the neck shave.”

Bess has been cutting hair for the past three years and does tapers, military, flat tops and face shavings.

“He has been such a joy in the barbershop and we have a great time laughing with the customers,” said Fair. “He is a go getter and a definite asset to the barbershop!”

Fair and her head barber are looking forward to meeting members of the community and building relationships with their North Branford customers.

“Being a barber is not a job or a career – it’s more than that,” said Fair. “It’s a heartfelt warmth watching your clients and learning about their lives over the years and knowing that with every big event in their life, they come to see the barber!”
