Vista's 2013 Annual Meeting & Awards Ceremony

Vista Vocational & Life Skills Center is happy to announce their 2013 Annual Meeting & Awards Ceremony. This year’s Annual Meeting will take place on Saturday October 26th at Water’s Edge Resort and Spa in Westbrook, CT. Awards will be given out to Vista’s members and staff that have been a part of the organization for 10 or 20 years. Additionally, Vocational Awards will be given out to members that have retained employment at a particular organization for 5, 10, 15 or 20 years.

Other notable awards include the Employment Award, the President’s Award and the Community Support Award. The Employment Award is given to organizations that are willing to take a chance and give Vista students the opportunity to obtain and maintain employment. This year’s Employment Award will go to Yale-New Haven Hospital for their fantastic efforts in providing a wide range of opportunities that allow Vista student/members to explore, discover and cultivate their individual vocational interests and strengths. Through Vista’s relationship and the work Vista is contracted to provide, which includes assembling brochures and stocking, organizing and inventorying the medical materials used in hospital medical carts, students and members have been provided the opportunity of paid employment. The skills learned and then honed through the work provided by Yale-New Haven Hospital have increased the ability and confidence of our students and members to work and succeed in today's job market. The President’s Award, which will be presented to Sandra M. Woodbridge, is given annually to someone who has demonstrated a commitment to the Vista organization through their volunteerism, efforts and generosity. The Community Support Award, which this year will go to the Westbrook Public Library, is given each year to individuals and/or organizations who have demonstrated their direct support of Vista’s students and members through their active involvement with Vista’s program and within the lives of Vista’s clientele. The Westbrook Public Library has made a difference in the lives of all involved with Vista through teaching, guiding, providing feedback and showing patience.
