In all the hullabaloo getting my daughter ready for prom I forgot about the other “big day” this weekend; it’s . If you forgot too, you better remedy that quick with some online shopping….but read my blog first!
We don’t go for big fancy gifts in my family; instead we try to do things that are meaningful. I get to sleep later and my husband and children bring me breakfast in bed. I will have a lazy day and rather than go out I will have my dinner made by my family. My husband does not cook much, but he can grill steaks to rival Bobby Flay! Both our daughters are great bakers so dessert will be delightful.
I was prompted to think about Mother’s Day after scrolling through my Facebook news feed yesterday. One of my friends posted about participating in an “Anonymous Awesome Mom Project.” She has selected a few moms that she knows that she thinks are doing an awesome job and she mails them an anonymous card telling them that.
That got me thinking, what if I mailed out some cards too? I know some moms that are awesome, but for a variety of reasons they don’t feel like they are doing the best they can. I know a couple of single moms that go above and beyond to provide and could probably use a boost.
I think most of us know someone that would fall into those categories. Yes many of them will get cards from their kids and maybe even a small gift and we all know how much they mean. But can you imagine opening a card you did not expect, telling you that you are an awesome mom? Who does not love a surprise?!
Yesterday when I bought cards from my mom, I picked up some extra and then I stopped off at to get a few small gift cards. They may only buy a cup of coffee and a donut, but I am hoping they bring a smile to a face and brighten someone’s day. It will brighten my day on Sunday to think of them opening those cards.
Oh and mom if you are reading this, I think you are awesome…and your card will be late!
