Blake Pearson Represents Smith Library at Rock Cats Game

Through a program at the Smith Library and the New Britain Rock Cats, Blake Pearson got to throw the first pitch in the Aug. 10 New Britain Rock Cats game.

Blake Pearson represented the by throwing out the first pitch in the Aug. 10 New Britain Rock Cats game. And what a pitch it was–a perfect strike! 

In conjunction with the Connecticut Library Consortium and Central Connecticut State University, the Rock Cats' “Reading Books In Summer” program promotes the importance of literacy for children ages 5 to 12. Children who join and successfully complete the summer reading program at their library are rewarded with a voucher redeemable for a Rock Cats' reserved seat to the Summer Reading Recognition game.  

Public libraries throughout Connecticut participate each year. Rocky the Rock Cat also attended the Smith Library's end-of-summer celebration.
