Komisarjevsky Jury Selection is Difficult

Two prospective jurors refused to be in the courtroom with the accused killer.

Jury selection continues today for the trial of Joshua Komisarjevsky, the second Cheshire home invasion defendant.

Defense lawyers and prosecutors on Tuesday questioned six prospective jurors, but all of them were excused by the judge.

Komisarjevsky, 30, faces the death penalty or life without parole for the kidnapping and robbery that ended in the murders of a Cheshire mother and her two daughters in 2007.

A co-defendant, Steven Hayes, 47, was convicted on the same charges in 2010 and sentenced to death row.

Jury selection began on March 16 in New Haven Superior Court. So far, only two jurors were picked from about 80 individuals.

One juror was selected from the first panel. He is a doctor employed by the Yale School of Medicine.

This week, attorneys picked one juror from the second panel, a college student pursuing a degree in social work and criminal justice.

Defense lawyers and prosecutors will begin questioning the third panel today.
