After looking at Irish ancestry in Connecticut, Patch pulled together all the data to determine the Most Irish Neighborhoods in the state.

Using American Community Survey (part of the U.S. Census Bureau) estimates by zip code, the above list shows the 10 Connecticut communities with the most residents of Irish, Celtic and Scotch-Irish heritage by population.

The list begins with No. 10: Waterford, which just happens to take its name from an eponymous town in southern Ireland.

I believe The Gaelic American Club in Fairfield has the largest membership of Irish and Irish heritage members, some 6,000 plus. They attract people from Fairfield, New Haven and many other CT counties as well as other states.

Yes, Peg. The Gaelic Club is very big here in Fairfield. My daughter belonged for years. I haven't joined, but I may. I have plenty of friends who belong.

i am surprised that the town of fairfield didn't make the list. my dentist has 12 brian kelly's as patients. they have to identify me by my telephone number...
