The Excitment of T Birds Football and Giving Tuesday

Go T-Birds! and how to contribute to Giving Tuesday

What a night last Wednesday was. We got to watch our seniors and their proud parents on the field (I know when my turn comes with my daughter I am gonna CRY), we had 59 youth cheerleaders do a great job with the varsity squad cheering the boys onto victory and also performing a very impressive half time dance and cheer, and then, of course, the nail biting game and exciting win over Hyde Academy - a hard fought game indeed. One thing that always impresses me is that our cheer coach insists that not only do our cheerleaders cheer our football team off the field but they also cheer the opposing team off - no matter how cold it gets, no matter how long the team stays on the field and no matter how tired the girls are - they show great sportsmanship in this.

I saw an interesting thing on the news this moring about Giving Tuesday - they encourage everyone to do some sort of charity effort and then post on their Facebook page or tweet to everyone. I don't have a Twitter account so I will describe my committment to Giving Tuesday - and this is something everyone can do.

Each week during my normal grocery shopping I pick up $5.00 worth of shampoo and toothpaste (VO5 shampoo and Aim toothpaste are less than a dollar each).

Each month, I take all the cans and bottles we have saved and I go to M & M Recycling Center in Wallingford. Whatever money I get, I buy as much shampoo and toothpaste as I can.

On that same day, I take all the shampoo and toothpaste I have accumulated during the month and I take it to the Northford Food Bank.

The hard working ladies at the Northford Food Bank are always grateful since food stamps can't be used to buy basic necessities such as shampoo, toothpaste, toilet paper, etc. The Thunderbird Cheerleaders will be starting their 'Paper With a Purpose' drive at the basketball games again - we will be accepting donations of all basic necessities at the varsity baskeball games - just look for the box by the concession table.

To wrap this up - GO THUNDERBIRDS!!!!!!!!!!!! LETS FIGHT - WIN TONIGHT!!!! And lets give thanks for all the good things in our lives!
