Handmade Gifts are Great for Giving!

Been away for a while - my job was eliminated end of June so the hunt is on for a new position. However, in between job searches I was able to do something nice - I belong to a 2.5" candy square swap. The lady who organized this and keeps us motivated is really full up - she just lost 2 close family members, she is taking care of her ailing parents and her pregnant daughter who is on bed rest. I sent the word out to the ladies on the swap and said that if they each sent me a block, I would put them together, border and quilt it. I just finished it and I am just so pleased with how pretty it turned out! I will be mailing it to her on Saturday and I know it will make her day.
My daughter's best friend said something really sweet - she prefers homemade gifts to store bought because she understands the work that goes into the gift and that it really comes from the heart.
The quilt is not perfect by any means - it was done on my mid arm so it doesn't have the perfection that would come from a long arm machine - but it comes with a lot of good wishes. So remember that even if you are new to quilting or any other crafting, its the thought and work that counts, not how perfect it is. Go ahead and make someone's day by giving them a great handmade gift!
