Help Two Non-Profits Win Grants Just From a Click of Your Mouse

Chase Community Giving is a program designed to help non-profits receive a portion of a $5 million dollar grants. 196 non-profits will be awarded funds based on votes received.

Well the summer's over (basicly) and this week marks the "Half Way to ." Time for me to get back writting my Patch Blog. I've been a bad boy and took a few weeks off. I do want to mention this item to you all though. Please see the post below, taken from another web page I work on.

Chase Community Giving and the New Haven Irish Parade

Today I'd like to take a minute to tell you about an organization I work with.

Their formal name is Associated Irish Societies but the name best know is The Greater New Haven St. Patrick's Day Parade. I have been a member of this organization since 2002. I have recently been elected the 2013 Greater New Haven St. Patrick's Day Parade Grand Marshal.

Fundraising for any organization these days is extremely difficult. Non-profits have had a huge dip in donations and look to new ideas for covering these changes. Obviously cutting expenses must be done and has been by this group. However the cost for continuing this traditional event still mounts.

Chase Community Giving is a program designed to help non-profits receive a portion of a $5 million dollar grants. This is done by community voting for the organizations they like that are participating. The "Associated Irish Societies" is one of a select few from around the nation that has qualified for this program. With your help and only a few mouse clicks on a website you can help! In addition you get to vote for a second organization you may know.

The Greater New Haven St. Patrick's Day Parade in Connecticut began March 17, 1842. They are one of the oldest St. Patrick's Day Parade's in the nation, 6th oldest in fact. They are Connecticut's largest single day spectator event, drawing upwards of 325,000 people to this event. They are a 501 (c) (3) registered non-profit organization. This event is organized by volunteers of the Greater New Haven, CT area and sponsored by the areas four Irish clubs (Knights of St. Patrick, New Haven Gaelic Football and Hurling Club, West Haven Irish American Club and Ancient Order of Hibernians Div. 7).

The expense for organizing a St. Patrick's Day Parade of this size exceeds $120,000.00 annually. To cover these costs, the committee holds fundraisers all year long. Everything from bake sales and booster buttons to the Shamrock Open golf tournament. They also collect $5 $10 and $20 donations from area citizens looking to help. As well as corporate sponsorships ranging $500 - $7,500 and via local restaurant & pub events.
