Judy Barron is in the midst of her favorite season with lots of activities coming up at the North Branford Senior Center.

Summer is officially over and fall is certainly in the air here in North Branford and Northford. Town officials, including Senior Center Supervisor Judy Barron, update Patch readers on recent happenings as well as their favorite thing about autumn.

North Branford Patch: What's new in your department?
Barron: On Friday, Oct. 26, the Senior Center will be hosting and Evening Tea along with 100 years of Pocketbooks presentation. The cost is $10 per person and the event is from 6 to 8 p.m. Join us for evening tea with a Venetian style buffet of finger foods and pastries. The presentation includes a display of women’s purses that span the 20th century. Our speaker will review the history of handbags and show us how a purse reflects the owner’s personality.  Share anecdotes about past celebrities and their purses and join in on the discussion on the present craze for designer purses!! Bring along any vintage or knock-off purses you may have too! Tickets may be purchased at the Senior & Community Center.

North Branford Patch: What's something residents need to know?
Barron: We are currently accepting recipients for our Santa to a Senior Program. This program is sponsored by HomeInstead of Guilford and gives a special gift during the holiday season to Homebound Seniors in North Branford/Northford. Individuals can submit themselves or a family member or friend can call in and submit the name. For further information contact the Senior Center at 203-315-6018.
