North Branford Patch: What's new in North Branford's Department of Social Services?
Luisa Breen: Community members may apply for Energy Assistance from now through May 2013 (information is listed below from the Town of North Branford's website).

North Branford Patch: What's something residents need to know?
Luisa Breen: Home Energy Solutions - Income Eligible  Program (free), others fee based. An energy audit will be conducted in your home. In addition to weatherization services, eligible household may qualify for insulation and energy-efficient appliances. Income eligibility is set at 60% of the state median income. To sign up, please complete the application available at Town of North Branford Office of Social Service or you may contact your electric carrier directly.

Energy Assistance Program 
Assist homeowners and renters that are income and asset eligible in offsetting the costs of the winter fuel bill.  Usual program dates are November 1 through April.

CITIZENS ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

Individual HouseholdsHow to Apply:Families that need heating assistance can call the Citizens Energy Oil Heat Program’s toll free hotline, 1-877-JOE-4-OIL (1-877-563-4645) or apply for the voucher. Citizens will notify households/families via mail on their application status.  Qualified families will receive a one-time delivery of up to 100 gallons of heating oil. 
Oil Heat ProgramThe Citizens Energy Oil Heat Program has delivered millions of gallons of discount home heating oil to poor and elderly households in Massachusetts and other cold weather states since 1979.  This unique program helps protect needy families from volatile heating oil prices, which often leave households having to choose between heating the home and paying for other life essentials, such as food, health care, or clothing.What is the Oil Heat Program?In partnership with CITGO, Citizens Energy works with thousands of oil heat dealers and local fuel assistance agencies in 16 states to provide deliveries of home heating oil to those in need.  This year the Oil Heat Program provided eligible families a one-time delivery of 100 gallons of home heating oil.
