Debbie’s Dose of Food for Thought
“The summer night is like a perfection of thought.” Wallace Stevens
Plan some final summer fun and enjoy the more relaxed summer nights before the kids head back to school next week and the hustle and bustle of fall starts. Here are some suggestions for memorable things to do!
Head to the Beach
Do some summer reading and get in some last summer swims. Local water temperatures are in the high 70s, perfect for a refreshing but not-too-cool dip! Try or .
Go on a Picnic
Invite friends to meet you for a picnic at one of our local parks– in North Branford offers a playground, picnic pavilion and hiking trails; while in Branford has playscapes, walking trails and plenty of room to run. Bring along some games and your hiking shoes and have a carefree day!
Create a "Summer Memories" Scrapbook or Box
Take some time to jot down and illustrate some of the fun things you did this summer and place them in a scrapbook. If time is at a premium, place memorable items, drawings and notes about the summer in a re-purposed and newly decorated box.
Take in Some Music
Pack a dinner or take-out and head to the Branford Green to hear Marion Meadows in the final Jazz concert of the season. This is sure to be a wonderful event!
Catch Those Last Summer Dreams
Did you want to go to a museum, visit a favorite or never-seen CT town, camp out in your backyard or see a special summer movie? Why not do it this week? Check out last week's for some more ideas.
After all, “Someday is not a day of the week,” (Janet Dailey) and if you don’t plan special events, they may never happen. Most of all enjoy whatever you do as summer winds down!
