A gay couple brings their surrogate into their lives (and her mother, apparently). Might be great. Might be the Three’s Company of the 21st century. Might not. Let’s see. “Shania tries to adapt to her new surroundings; Bryan and David plan a night out on the town after reminiscing about when they first met; Jane makes a disturbing discovery.”

Parenthood, 10 p.m., NBC

Season premiere: “As Haddie prepares to head off to college, the Bravermans gather for a family portrait; Joel and Julia worry about the behavior of their newly adopted son; Sarah tries to impress a photographer (Ray Romano) with her skills as an assistant.”
