On Tonight: Raising Hope, New Girl and Ellen DeGeneres: The Mark Twain Prize

It's time for Tuesday night TV if you've got power or cable....

Tuesday, Oct. 30

Raising Hope, 8 p.m., Fox

How’re we doing? Power? Dry or wet basement? More importantly, cable? I hope so because so far the new season of Raising Hope has been hilarious. Last week with the marriage retreat and the Newlywed-style game and the bear. Oh my goodness that was funny. Tonight, “Virginia becomes suspicious when Burt starts spending a lot of time at a local gay bar.”

New Girl, 9 p.m., Fox

I am not enjoying the unemployed Jess very much, I have to admit. And I really want Nick to use his inside voice a little more. Or ever, even. Sheesh he is loud. Tonight, “Jess is hired to be a zombie at a haunted house; Cece and Schmidt accidentally wear perfectly matched costumes; a former college crush visits Nick and expresses her affection in an alarming way.”

Ellen DeGeneres: The Mark Twain Prize, 8 p.m., PBS (check listings)

“Ellen DeGeneres becomes the 15th recipient of the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.”
