Patch's Poll: Who Won the First McMahon-Murphy Debate?

The candidates for U.S. Senate faced off on Sunday morning and will meet again on Thursday.

In the first of their four scheduled debates, Linda McMahon and Chris Murphy got in some personal attacks — in keeping with their campaigns thus far — but also managed to discuss some substantive issues.

The hourlong WFSB-Channel 3 debate was broadcast live on Sunday morning. The second debate for the two candidates running for U.S. Sen. Joseph Lieberman's empty seat will be Thursday, Oct. 11, at 7 p.m. at the University of Connecticut. That debate will also be broadcast live on FOX CT.

A number of media outlets characterized Sunday's debate as "feisty," with McMahon continuing to accuse Murphy of getting a "sweetheart" deal on his mortgage and Murphy charging that McMahon was determined to cut taxes for the wealthy, including herself.

But the candidates also highlighted their policy differences. McMahon said she would cut government spending to help reduce the deficit and said she was pro-choice but would not use that position as a "litmus test" for a Supreme Court nominee.

Murphy challenged McMahon on her support of the Blunt Amendment, a failed measure that would have allowed employers with moral objections to deny birth control coverage to female employees.

Did you watch the debate? Who, in your opinion, won? Take our poll and tell us in the comments.

My friend please...... First off your fact checking has been secured by the mainstream (liberal) media, that would be my guess and Chris Dodd sold his soul to the devil long ago. These Are the facts.

Patrick, Google up "Chris Dodd" and "Friends of Angelo" and let us know if you still think he was an excellent Senator.

Like I said, Chris was an excellent senator. I stand by my firm belief. Dodd- Frank is one example. And I'm not saying who is more of a success. Running government is different than running a business. But everyone is entitled to their own opinions! :)

How many years ago she cheated peoplen out of the money they were due proves one thing, she morally had decades to pay them back. She had the gall to go on TV and say she had tough times, heck, what about the people who were never paid. They suffered tough times because of her irresponsibility. She comes across as proud of her bad financial planning. A lot of people forget to pay a bill or miss a payment, but they eventually pay they don't file bankrupcy to get out of it. Once a cheat always a cheat and that is what she will do to you.
