Poll: Do You Think Joe Paterno Should Have Been Fired?

UPDATE: Penn State football coach Joe Paterno has been fired.

One of Joe Paterno’s former longtime Penn State coaching assistants, Jerry Sandusky, has been charged with sexually abusing eight boys over a 15-year span and two top university officials have been charged with perjury and failing to report to authorities what they knew of the allegations.

Paterno’s actions with regard to the allegations have come under criticism, as reported by the New York Times.

Yesterday, Paterno announced he will retire at the end of this season.

Last night it was announced that Paterno has been fired.

Patch wants to know if you think Paterno should have been fired. Vote in today's poll and feel free to elaborate in the comments section below.

Like the grand jury report I was only able to listen to half of this horrible interview with mother of victim #1 "Mother of Alleged Victim Says Son Was Afraid to Tell Sandusky 'No'". http://gma.yahoo.com/penn-state-scandal-mother-alleged-victim-says-son-082520374.html

I think they were too quick to respond to the problem. They should have let Joe explain what his intentions were. Maybe he was just trying to get these kids to follow orders or something. I mean, I could be wrong on this.. To tell you the truth, I haven't even read anything about this story. I'm just responding to things I have heard. Like most people these days, when I am unsure of something or ignorant to facts, I just shoot from the hip and guess. Maybe it was some demeaning and coercive program that allowed the children to be manipulated this way -- to be nervous about questioning someone with power -- to be too nervous to say "NO-JOE?"

Well he is dead now, so God gets to decide what happens. Better than leaving it up to incompetent humans who forgive and overlook heinous crimes committed against innocents.
