A Letter to the Northford/North Branford Community

Dear Northford Neighbors and North Branford Friends,

With just under one month until Election Day, I wanted to express my gratitude to my neighbors and friends who have shown their support, and joined me in discussions regarding our schools.

If you have not had the opportunity to attend an event, please feel free to stop me in town to chat. I can also be reached by email colby.orourke@yahoo.com or you can visit my Facebook page: Colby O’Rourke “Parents on Board” to learn more about me and share opinions.

Short Bio

My family and I have called Northford home for the past 9 years. I have three children: Kailee, a NBIS student; Nick a TVES student; and Ashlyn, a Kindergartener at JHS. It is important to recognize that we need Board of Education members that understand the value of our programs and staff first hand.

I earned a degree in Biology/Chemistry and currently work as a Project Manager for a clinical research company. In this role, I am accountable for budget and contract negotiations and project timelines. As one supporter wrote, “As a mother whose career is focused on budgets, contracts and proposals, she has the best interest of our kids in mind, balanced in fiscal responsibility.”

Hosting “Community Clean-Up” events, I have challenged community members to volunteer once a month to clean school and town areas littered with trash. As a member of PTO in JHS, TVES and NBIS, I have volunteered at many school activities, and am a room parent at JHS.

As any parent can attest, there isn’t much downtime after driving to/from Youth Football and swim practice, play rehearsals and band performances. But I feel being an active participant in my children’s learning is important to my family, and possessing the skills needed to present a fair and honest budget is important to my town.

I am running for Board of Education to provide a safe place where academic success of every child is a priority and taxpayer dollars are spent responsibly.

My Commitment to You

·         Communication and Transparency

Colby O’Rourke
