Car Flips Over in Middlefield, DEEP Responds to Crash Scene
Police say a woman was treated for minor injuries after losing control of her vehicle along Route 147, a crash that caused a fuel spill along the Coginchaug River.
A North Branford woman suffered minor injuries last week after flipping her car over a guardrail along Route 147 in Middlefield, according to police. Emergency officials, including the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, responded to the crash along the Coginchaug River.
According to police, 86-year-old Anne Hicks was travelling south towards Durham around 2:30 p.m. on Dec 13, when she lost control of her 2000 Toyota Camry and collided with a metal guardrail.

The car traveled along the guard rail for several yards before it flipped over and hit a tree, police said.
Firefighters had to extricate Hicks from the vehicle and she was taken to Middlesex Hospital with minor injuries.

The DEEP responded to the scene and determined that gasoline from the vehicle had spilled into the nearby river, according to an incident report. The report says the spill was less than 20 gallons.
The status of the cleanup is unknown.
