I got to spend some time with Hanz, North Branford Police Department's K9, and his handler, Sergeant Mario Bernardo, and was surprised to see just how much Hanz has grown!
That adorable, fluffy puppy with those big ears is now 80 pounds at almost nine months old. Hanz is full of puppy energy and loves to play ball, but is still happy to sit down while getting scratched between those big ears!
Hanz and Bernardo will head to 14 weeks of 40-hour per week training through the Connecticut State Police in Meriden in September. After graduation in December, the pair will hit the road for the NBPD.
The CSP recommends holding off on most training until they head to the academy. For now, Hanz is enjoying his puppyhood with Bernardo, his wife and their six-year-old German shepherd Lupo.
