Matt's Mission Outfits NBPD Motorcycle with Radar

The North Branford Police Department's motorcycle is now equipped with a radar unit thanks to a donation from Matt's Mission.

Seven months ago, of Matt's Mission attended a North Branford Police Commission meeting to present a check for $6,000 to the for two new radar units. One of Matt's Mission's goals is to get people to .

On April 19, Matt's Mission bought a new radar unit priced at $3,603.65 that was recently installed on the NBPD's motorcycle. 

According to Lieutenant David D'Ancicco, the motorcycle was purchased in 2003 after the NBPD was awarded a Federal Highway Safety Grant to fund the purchase.

"We use it as needed for official escorts, traffic duty, general patrol and now for radar enforcement," he said. "Because of its size and stealth-like dimensions, it is a much more effective weapon in detecting speeders than a marked police cruiser."
