A West Haven man was arrested on Jan. 8 after allegedly fleeing a parking lot accident and a subsequent roadway accident, police said.
Police investigation revealed Zachary Robinson, 25, allegedly backed into a car in a Boston Post Rd. business parking lot, left the parking lot recklessly, hit a second vehicle on the roadway and then fled that scene as well, said police.
Robinson was later apprehended and taken into custody, at which time police discovered via a computer check that Robinson was operating a vehicle without car insurance or a valid drivers license, according to police.
Robinson has been charged with two counts of evading responsibility, two counts of reckless driving, two counts of misuse of registration plates, two counts of no insurance, unsafe backing, failure to drive right, operating unregistered motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle without a license. Robinson is being held on $1,000 bond.
Unwanted House Guest
A 45-year-old man was arrested by Milford police on Milford Point Rd. on Jan. 7 for allegedly burglarizing a vacant apartment, said police.
Thomas Porter, whose address is still uncertain, was arrested after police responded to a complaint made by the apartment's landlord, who arrived to find the lock on the apartment's door damaged and Porter inside drinking alcohol, said police.
Porter has been charged with third-degree criminal mischief and third-degree burglary and is being held on $5,000 bond.
A Trumbull man was arrested by Milford police on Jan. 7 when police allegedly observed him driving the wrong way down the one-way section of New Haven Ave., police said.
Gary Pereiro, 21, was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol when police pulled him over for driving against traffic on New Haven Ave., according to police.
After Pereiro's arrest, an intoxilyzer test revealed he had an elevated blood alcohol level, said police.
Pereiro has been charged with driving under the influence and driving the wrong way on a one-way street. Pereiro is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 26, 2012 and bond was set at $500.
Fleeing the Scene
A Milford man was arrested on Jan. 9 for allegedly leaving the scene of accident in which he was involved, police said.
Jacob Pina, 20, allegedly left the scene of an accident in which he was involved on Pond Point Ave. on Dec. 20, 2011, said police.
Police responded to a complaint a car accident, at which time they arrived to discover one of the vehicles in the accident was gone. Police investigation revealed Pina allegedly operated said vehicle and a warrant was issued for his arrest, police said.
Pina has been charged with following too close and evading responsibility. Bond was set at $500 and Pina is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 2, 2012.
A West Haven man was arrested on Jan. 9 for allegedly violating a protective order by contacting a former acquaintance, police said.
Police received a complaint on Oct. 14, 2011 regarding the alleged violation of a protective order by Rafael Vega, 29. Police investigation revealed Vega allegedly contacted a former acquaintance, violating the order, police said.
A warrant was issued for Vega's arrest and he has been charged with violation of a protective order. Bond was set at $500 and he is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 10, 2012.
