NBFD Gets a Hand from East Haven and North Haven

Mutual aid departments helped the North Branford Fire Department put out an electrical fire on Sunday.

While the was battling the , another call came in for an electrical fire on Judson Drive.

The East Haven and North Haven fire departments responded to the mutual aid call along with one of the North Branford units and Branford and Wallingford fire departments then covered North Branford’s stations.

“It was a busy morning,” said North Branford .

He reported that the electrical fire ignited when the homeowner’s father cut a limb from a tree that pulled the electrical service feed from the house. The wire caused a fire on the outside of the home.

“The fire caused by ripping the wire from the side of the house was not the only hazard,” said Seward. “It’s always a safety hazard for those cutting limbs near live power.”

Seward urged residents to take precautions when trimming trees and to consult a professional if the tree or limbs are near power lines.
