At the , Matthew Canelli, chief of the , presented some statistics from the department from the month of March.
- 990 calls to service
- 25 motor vehicle accidents with 7 injuries
- 49 summonses
- 68 alarms of which 68 were false
- 26 criminal arrests
- $855.56 for vehicle repairs
In addition to the numbers for the month of March, Canelli also shared some numbers from the first quarter of 2012–January through March–including 2,458 calls for service and $2,895.83 on vehicle repairs.
For the 2012-13 fiscal year, the NBPD has paid approximately $9,700 for prisoner watch, which is “right on schedule or maybe a little over last year at this time,” according to Canelli. The permit revenue to date in the fiscal year stands at approximately $4,700.
Canelli also reported that two thank you letters were received, including a set from the East Haven Police Department and East Haven mayor’s office regarding the by using .
The second thank you letter was from a resident, thanking Sergeant Gary Ripa for his efforts in locating a contractor who took $200 to repair a pellet stove and never returned.
The Police Commission then went on to hear concerns from dispatchers regarding the upcoming retirement of a full-time dispatcher and how the staffing will work. Story to follow.
