North Branford Police Officers Receive Various Awards

Several members of the North Branford Police Department have been recognized for accomplishments.

 

There has been no shortage of accolades at the North Branford Police Department over the past few months as several members of the NBPD have received recognition and certifications. 

Officer Mario Bernardo was named 'Officer of the Month' for July 2012. Bernardo earned a compensation day to be taken during November 2012.

"Since Nov. 27, 2006, you have provided a service to the North Branford Police Department and to Town residents that has been recognized by your peers, supervisors and community members as admirable," wrote Chief Matthew Canelli on the award. "Therefore, on behalf of the Police Department, I would like to extend our sincere thanks for your tremendous service to us for the last five years."

On Oct. 5, 2012, the State of Connecticut Police Officer Standards and Training Council certified Officer James Lovelace as a basic police firearms instructor.

Detective Ron Onofrio and Sergeant Sean Anderson completed the symposium on the topic of advanced death investigation at The Henry C. Lee Institute of Forensic Science at the University of New Haven on Oct. 8 and 9.

Officer Robert Deko and Sergeant Mario Bernardo were each awarded a Certificate of Achievement for successfully completing the Field Training Officer Program on Oct. 19. Both are now a certified police field training officers.
