North Branford's Marc Andrew Sworn into Branford Police Department

Branford replaces department vacancy with North Branford resident.

Branford Police Chief John DeCarlo announced his week that the department has filled a recent vacancy created by an officer’s retirement in September 2010.

Marc Andrew, 31 years old, of Branford was sworn in as a recruit police officer on Monday morning by DeCarlo at 9 a.m. He will begin Connecticut’s Police Officer Standards Training Council (POSTC) Academy in Meriden on April 15 where he will attend 22 weeks of basic recruit training. After graduation, Andrew will return to Branford where he will undergo another 10 weeks of field service training with a department certified Field Training Officer (FTO).

A native of North Branford, Andrew was selected from a field of applicants that recently underwent a rigorous process including written, oral and physical testing as well as an in-depth background investigation.

Andrew attended Norte Dame High School of West Haven and Springfield College where he earned a B.S. Degree in Emergency Medical Services Management.

Since 2005, Andrew has been employed as an E-911 Telecommunicator working in Branford’s Central Dispatching Center. In addition, he has worked for Marco’s Pizzeria; a family owned and operated business by his parents, Janet and Thomas Andrew. He also served as a volunteer firefighter for the North Branford Fire
Department for a number of years.

Chief John DeCarlo said, “Our agency is very pleased with the addition of Marc to our staff of officers serving the Branford community. He has proven that he understands our mission of partnership and public service to those we serve.”
