Police Blotter: July 7 to 12

The following arrest information was supplied by the North Branford Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Larceny, Criminal Mischief and Conspiracy

On July 11, the final warrant was served in connection with the scrap metal thefts when Michael D. Palmieri, 21, of 28 Flat Rock Rd., Branford, was arrested on warrant for second-degree criminal mischief, first-degree larceny, second-degree conspiracy to commit criminal mischief and first-degree conspiracy to commit larceny.

He, and were reported to have stolen radiators and two car batteries from a previous employer and then sold them to a scrap metal dealer. Upon investigation, he had allegedly sold many items to the scrap metal dealer over a long period of time, totaling more than $10,000.

Under the Influence Leads to Accident on Sea Hill Road

A DUI accident led to a broken telephone pole and the closing of Sea Hill Road while the utility companies worked to restore power and fix the pole. On July 12 at 2:22 a.m., Matthew D. Perry, 20, of 54 Pistapaug Rd., North Branford, was arrested for operation while under the influence and driving in the right-hand lane after his vehicle struck a telephone pole, breaking it in half. Perry was not injured in the accident.

Reckless Driving

John N. Blomberg, 55, of 155 Totoket Rd., North Branford, was arrested for reckless driving at 8:01 p.m. on July 12. An officer saw Blomberg’s car allegedly traveling at a high rate of speed and passing two vehicles in a no-passing zone. The officer caught up with Blomberg by Twin Lakes Road where it was reported that he continued to speed, pass vehicles and weave through traffic. After being pulled over, Blomberg reportedly said someone had yelled to him while he was at his house and he was chasing them. The officer advised him to call the police in the future.
