Police Net New Suspect in Drug Investigation

Drugs and paraphernalia are confiscated and a suspect is arrested.

A 20-year-old North Branford resident is the latest to be arrested in the police department's ongoing investigation into the distribution of illegal drugs in town.

Arrested at 8 p.m. on Aug. 31 was Sean J. McNamara of Caputo Road. He was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, illegal manufacturing and distribution of control substances, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of more than four ounces of marijuana, and illegal possession near a school.

The arrest was made when an officer involved in the case received information that the target of the investigation, McNamara, would be traveling to a pre-designated location on Foxon Road to complete a drug transaction, according to police. McNamara, who police said does not possess a valid driver's license, was pulled over on Foxon Road near the intersection of Totoket Road.

He was found to be in possession of marijuana at that time and was placed under arrest, police said. The investigation continued to the McNamara’s house, located at 57 Caputo Road -- directly behind the -- where officers reportedly recovered one marijuana plant growing in a backyard garden.

A search of the home was then conducted, which police said yielded the following contraband:
