North Branford Patch: What is new?
Anthony Candelora: I am learning more about social media than I ever imagined. We as parents, aunts, uncles and grandparents need to make sure our children learn to interact with each other – not just text or email. Actually pick up the phone. Or write a letter. Go outside and play. I have caught myself emailing or texting instead of calling. Sometimes words can hurt, sometimes it comes across wrong or sometimes, unfortunately, it is bullying.
North Branford Patch: What is something residents should know?
Anthony Candelora: It is so important to teach our children to interact with one another. As kids we shoveled driveways, we cut grass for pocket money. We played neighborhood games. Today with all the electronic devices, we sometimes forget to keep it simple. We must monitor what our children are seeing and doing on the internet, iPhones, etc. When you go on a computer, you can travel the world or let the world in. So please make sure to talk with your kids and look at their iPhones or iPads to see where they have been.
North Branford Patch: What is your favorite thing about winter?
Anthony Candelora: My favorite thing about winter is the crisp fresh air and to look out and see trees with all the snow. Lighting a fire and relaxing with my wife.
