A press release from Access Health CT, the state's Affordable Care Act health exchange:
As of Dec. 23, 62,153 Connecticut residents have enrolled in quality, affordable health care coverage through Access Health CT (AHCT) and will have coverage beginning Jan. 1, 2014. Over 6,700 Connecticut residents and small businesses enrolled for health care coverage on Dec. 23, more than double prior enrollment results for a single day.
“We’re delighted to have enrolled so many Connecticut residents in health care coverage for January 1st; however, our work is far from done,” said Access Health CT CEO Kevin Counihan. “Over the remaining three months of open enrollment, we will continue aggressive outreach to enroll even more consumers and small businesses in quality, affordable health care coverage.”
Listed below are the cumulative enrollment numbers as of the close of business Dec. 23, 2013:
- Unique website visitors: 476,710
- Calls answered at call center: 89,406
- Applications completed: 28,333
- Private Insurance Carrier – QHP: 34,295
- Medicaid Expanded: 17,858
- Medicaid Organic: 10,000
- Total number of enrolled: 62,153
Consumers who have already enrolled will receive an invoice from their insurance carrier that must be paid by Jan. 10 for coverage effective Jan. 1. After the premium payments are received by the carrier, new member materials, including identification cards and welcome packets will be mailed out. At that time, any questions regarding coverage should be directed to the carrier company.
The open enrollment period runs from Oct. 1, 2013 through March 31, 2014, so consumers still have time to compare plans and shop for coverage. Visit www.accesshealthct.com or call 1-855-805-HEALTH (4325) to speak with an Access Health CT representative. In-person assistance is available at the AHCT enrollment centers in New Britain and New Haven, at enrollment fairs across the state and from community-based Navigators, Assisters, Brokers and Certified Application Counselors.
The AHCT call center and enrollment centers will have adjusted holiday hours this week. Call center representatives will be available until 3:00 PM on December 24th and the call center will be closed on Dec. 25. The enrollment centers will both close at 2 PM on Dec. 24 and will reopen at 10 AM on Dec. 27.
