Campaign Notebook: Gov. Malloy Tells Murphy to Fight Back

News and updates from the campaign trail in Connecticut.

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy has some advice for fellow Democrat Chris Murphy: fight back. CTNewsJunkie.com reports that Malloy offered up his thoughts at a ribbon-cutting ceremony in Hartford.

Polls show the Senate race at a stastical dead heat despite Connecticut’s preference for Democrats. Linda McMahon has been outspending Murphy with her personal wealth.

Malloy reportedly said that, “sooner or later people have to talk about policies.”

Social media popularity doesn’t exactly translate into votes come Election Day, but incumbent Rosa DeLauro has 3,139 Facebook “likes” compared to Wayne Winsley’s 406. DeLauro’s page is more than four years older than her challenger’s. On Twitter, Winsley has 456 followers compared to DeLauro’s 5,749.

Rosa DeLauro, in 22 years, has gotten 3,139 people to like her = 142 per year. Wayne Winsley, in one year, has gotten 406 people to like him. This would be c. 9,000 people in 22 years, or c. 3 times more than DeLauro. Not surprising—since Wayne Winsley is at least 3 times more "likeable" than DeLauro.
