Campaign Notebook: 'Over-the-Top’ Senate Ads Attract National Attention

News and updates from the campaign trail in Connecticut.

The campaigns of Linda McMahon and Chris Murphy are apparently providing some unintended laughs throughout the country. A Yahoo News article looks at some of the livelier television advertisements and mailers sent out by the campaigns.

According to the article:

If there were any doubts that the tone of the Connecticut Senate race has become one of the most negative in the country, a glance at either side's abusive and sometimes wacky campaign ads should clear them up.

Third District

Rosa DeLauro (D): More than 300 people were made ill – and 24 people died – from contaminated medicine. DeLauro issued a statement saying that federal regulation of compounding pharmacies is the answer.

“I plan to introduce legislation when Congress returns after the election that will strengthen the FDA’s role in monitoring and licensing compounding pharmacies. The current patchwork of regulations has clearly failed us”, she said.

Wayne Winsley (R) is planning another campaign “flash mob” for Friday. According to his Facebook page, theNext Winsley for Congress Flashmob is Hamden Friday 4:30pm 1950 Dixwell ave. Signs T-shirts FUN! We ALL Win with Winsley!”

Fourth District

Jim Himes and Steve Obsitnik talked at a forum in Stamford on Wednesday. The candidates, according to the Connecticut Post, “differed on ways to continue the nation's emergence from the shadow of the crippling five-year recession.”

Obsitnik blamed Himes’ policies for the slow recovery. Himes said the economy would have collapsed if Republicans had their way.

Second District

The Hartford Courant has endorsed Joseph Courtney (D) for re-election to the district, saying he's been a strong advocte for students, district jobs and the needs of the U.S. Naval Submarine Base, one of the biggest employers in southeastern Connecticut.

Fifth District

An internal poll from the Elizabeth Esty campaign says she’s leading the race by four points. An internal poll from the Andrew Roraback campaign says he’s winning by six points. According to the Hartford Courant, the opposing polls mean the race is close.

Rosa DeLauro is committing another act of blatant fraud: NOBODY is going to look at her bogus "legislation". Nobody took her moronic Food Safety Administration seriously. This new super-agency was all about enforcement: using armed inspectors and agents to seize small family farms and shutter small producers, while allowing the biggest multinational corporations to buy them from the FSA at a fraction of the value. These are the same repeat offenders of salmonella outbreaks, but Rosa's armed FSA gestapo agents would NEVER touch them: they donate too much filthy money to her campaign, which she transfers to the DNC to keep a grip on her seniority! Never mind her impossible RICE Act, Diaper Act, Equal Pay Act, National Infrastructure Bank, and on and on and on! Its all fake! Rosa doesn't write real legislation! All she does is shmooze her sycophants and make enemies, and grow fabulously wealthy at the same time.

DeLauro is "grow[ing] fabulously wealthy" for sure, Hansa!! "POLITICAL OFFICE = GET-RICH SCAM "Only 5 years ago, Rosa DeLauro was worth a 'mere' $5 Million—thanks to Washington cronyism. Today Americans struggle to recover from the worst recession since the Great Depression: lost jobs, foreclosed homes, retirement savings depleted. BUT NOT DELAURO—today HER net wealth has GROWN to an obscene $17+ MILLION! 'Professional Politician' indeed!"... "And HERE is the scam by which she stuffs her pockets–with campaign money! “Federal campaign records reveal a self-dealing relationship between a senior Democratic Connecticut congresswoman and her husband’s political consulting firm…the funds DeLauro donates to help the DCCC [Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee]' ultimately re-enter her household through her husband’s business, Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research 'for polling and other services…It’s not just a conflict of interest, ...It looks like she’s raising money and giving it to herself.' [No kidding!] '..Rosa DeLauro has established a persona of being a champion of the safety net while at the same time being a champion of amassing great wealth for herself and her husband [Stanley Greenberg] during her tenure in office.”... http://www.humanevents.com/2011/10/04/delauro-campaign-finances-raise-questions/ http://rosadelauroexposed.wordpress.com/ Vote for Wayne Winsley, man of Integrity! www.winsleyforcongress.org
