East Haven Lawyer Nominated for Superior Court Judge Post

Michael Albis, who served for several years as East Haven's probate court judge, was one of 15 lawyers selected by the governor to fill vacancies in the state's Superior Court system.

An East Haven laywer is among Gov Dannel Malloy's 15 nominees announced Thursday to become new judges in the state's Superior Court system.

Michael A. Albis, who served as East Haven's probate court judge for 12 years, was selected along with 15 other nominees to fill 30 vacancies on that court.

Currently, Albis — the father of East Haven state Rep. James Albis — serves as a principal in the firm of Hilcoff & Albis, LLC in East Haven. He is a member of the adjunct faculty of Quinnipiac University in the Legal Studies Department. 

The local lawyer also was tapped in early 2011 to serve as administrative judge of the New Haven Regional Probate Court for Children's Matters

Albis rreceived his bachelor's degree from Yale University, and his law degree. with honors from University of Connecticut School of Law.

Malloy added that he does not intend on filling the remaining 15 positions at this time.

I had the pleasure to work with Mike for a number of years when he was president of The East Haven Fall Festival. I am so happy for him. The Governor made a great choice ! Good like Mike !
