Here's a look at what's happening this week–all counting down to the Potato and Corn Festival this weekend!!

We're starting August off with a bang! Part of this month is devoted to getting prepared to go back to work, school and the humdrum of life and part of this month is about savoring the relaxing days of summer. Oh bittersweet August, day one down, 30 more to go... here's what's happening in North Branford this week:

Preschool Registration

If you haven't thought about preschool for your little one yet, it's about that time. Several area schools have posted enrollment information including  with ongoing , and , which offers on Mondays and Saturdays, as well as in Branford.

Town Meetings

It's a busy week at Town Hall. On Monday, Aug. 1, both the and the meet. The has a meeting on Thursday, Aug. 4 at 7 p.m. Meetings are held at Town Hall at 7 p.m.

For the Family

Spend an afternoon at the on Tuesday, Aug. 2 starting with at 4:30 p.m. followed by the at 6:30 p.m. There will also be a pre-concert picnic so don't forget a blanket a picnic dinner. On Wednesday, Aug. 3, bring the kids to the for at 10 a.m.

Try Something New

Check out the on Wednesdays at 4 p.m. at Smith Library or enjoy at Northford Ice Pavilion.

Give Blood

With the blood supply at a , blood donations are needed. There are two chances to give this week in the area with a blood drive from 1 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 3 at  in Branford and another on Saturday, Aug. 6 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Guilford Fire Department, 390 Church St., Guilford. Laugh for a Good Cause

A for Matt's Mission, in memory of , will be held at Joker's Wild on Sunday, Aug. 7 at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $20.

Last, but certainly not least, is the Corn and Potato Festival, which runs Friday, , Saturday, and Sunday, . Don't forget to register for the and enter the kids in the Tator Trot. Email me your nominations for the in–King and Queen Corn and Prince and Princess Potato will be announced before Big Shot's performance on Sunday afternoon.
