North Branford Public Hearing for Proposed Budget Is April 2

There will be a public hearing on the proposed budget prior to the April 2 North Branford Town Council meeting.

 

On March 19, Interim Town Manager Bonnie Therrien and Superintendent Scott Schoonmaker each presented their proposed budgets to the Town Council with Therrien proposing a 2.51 increase in the town's mill rate from 27.77 to 30.28 for a proposed budget of $49,954,973 and Schoonmaker requesting a 2.66 percent increase to put the proposed 2013-14 budget at $30,167,737.

There will be a public hearing on Tuesday, April 2 at North Branford Town Hall beginning at 7 p.m. (full agenda attached).

"It is important for the public to come out and let the Town Council know your feelings," Therrien has stated.

The public hearing willbe followed by the regular WPCA/Town Council meeting (full agenda attached) Unfinished business on the agenda included the State of CT Partnership Health Plan and a contingency transfer for administrator raises.

New business includes a request to reassign STEAP money from sewer work to the Community Center, future use of the Senior Center and Council Caucus Room and more.

A budget workshop is then scheduled for Wednesday, April 3 (full agenda attached) where the Town Council will review revenues and debt services and discuss the Board of Education's and general government's budgets. 

There is expected to be action on the proposed budget, ratification of the Town Council's recommended budget and approval of the advisory budget referendum question.
